Kelly Andrews is a self-taught, freelance photographer who focuses on the often-overlooked beauty of New Jersey. She has spent a great deal of time photographing the Jersey Shore, making her way down the coast with the goal of finding and photographing the special things that make each shore town unique. Vivid colors and peaceful scenes dominate her work. Beside the shore, some of Kelly’s favorite subjects include barns, rural scenes, gardens, flowers and wildlife – especially birds. People often comment that her photographs look like paintings. Kelly’s photos have appeared regularly in magazines, books, posters and calendars.
An avid gardener, Kelly plans her gardens carefully to attract birds, butterflies and other garden bugs to supply readily available subjects. She enjoys birding and visits various wildlife sanctuaries, reservoirs, and preserves on a regular basis. While her home state of New Jersey provides a wonderful mix of country settings, beach scenes and seasonal interest to keep her very busy, Kelly also travels a few times a year. Most recently she has spent time in California, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Washington D.C.
